The 35 Doors Project originates from Indivisible Philadelphia, and RAD is collaborating with them to bring it to this area of the city.

Increase Voter Turnout in Your Division (Voting District)

The 35 Doors Project will increase voter turnout. In the 2020 election Philadelphia’s voting turnout was at about 66% and the state average was 71%. So there’s work that needs to be done. The 2022 election is right around the corner and we need to win the open U.S. Senate seat and our Governor seat. Increasing Philadelphia voter turnout can make the difference.

Here’s how it works.

The 35 Doors Project empowers volunteer Neighborhood Leaders to talk to voters at 35 addresses in their neighborhood. These Leaders will knock on the doors a few times per year to talk to voters about elections, becoming over time the neighborhood expert on all things election-related. Voters typically have questions about where to vote, reminders on when Election Day falls, explanations of the ballot questions and candidates, and more. The Neighborhood Leader will know the answers to these questions because we will provide all the information needed. We will also provide explanatory handouts about the upcoming election for the Neighborhood Leaders to leave with the voters.

Indivisible Philadelphia and RAD will provide the following materials and infrastructure for the Neighborhood Leaders:
Addresses, in coordination with the Leaders
Training on having these conversations
A Neighborhood Leader Conversation Guide for best practices guidance.
Voter handouts with relevant election information
Door hangers for the doors where the voter is not at home.
Background information on upcoming elections and timely info on emerging issues that will be on the ballot.

The address lists will be drawn from within a single Division, so this project is a great way for Democratic Committee People to be active and increase their contacts and turnout in their Division while having a very concrete and manageable effort.
